This information is to help Home Sellers understand the steps
that occur after the Home Buyers make an offer on your house. There are many
steps that a REALTOR® will perform that you will never hear about (nor want
to!), but the following steps will require your participation. Should you have
any questions, no matter how minor, please feel free to
contact us.
When your REALTOR® receives a purchase offer on your home,
they will call you to schedule a time to meet and go over the details of the
offer. Sometimes, this may be done as per telephone call or fax. At this time
you will have 3 options in responding to the offer:
This process may go back and forth a few times, with the same steps taken after each new or updated offer. It can be stressful hammering out all of the details, but your REALTOR® will be there to help along the way and to ensure you get the best deal possible.
Your REALTOR® will need your old title policy when a contract is accepted. They will forward the title policy to a title company and start the search process. You should have received your title policy and deed about 2 months after you closed on your present home. It will save you money on updating the policy if you have owned your home less than 10 years.
Now find out what happens in the final steps of the Home Selling Process and start getting ready to move.
